My AP Euro section was his last class at Schreiber, and it was as
monumental as its alums promised. From writing literally 60 pages
about the French Revolution to reading hundreds of textbook pages
within a few nights, I felt that AP Euro with him was as much an
internship as it was a lecture. There is no teacher with a drier sense
of humor; one of his test questions required naming the editors of our
textbook. He lives on in both the millions of photocopies he made and
in the minds of the students whose lives he touched. - David
Becker
I wish I had the opportunity to have known Dr. Rothman as he has clearly changed the lives of so many. Good luck raising money for this great cause. - Noah Reisman
A great teacher. A good man. I will miss him. - Marc Lindeman
I'll never forget Dr. Rothman talking about the days he worked on a farm in upstate NY over by Woodstock. Apparently he used to have long hair. He also claimed to have played drums in a rock group. - Dawn Scheckman
I'll never look at the Treaty of Versailles the same way again, or
the French Revolution. That paper was legendary every year. Lots of
thoughts to the Rothman family, he was a great person. -
Shaina Schwartz
Dr. Rothman was a true role model and mentor for young Schreiber teachers. I will always remember his wit, intelligence, and willingness to help. May he rest in peace and forever be in our hearts. - Mr. Matina
I grew up with Mr Rothman and his Family. His son and I were
friends since the first grade. He was an amazing man and an
incredible teacher. My heart goes to him, Mrs. Rothman and his son
Neil. - Dan Stein
He gave out a ton of homework but I definitely learned a lot from him. Perhaps there was something amazing about his class because I went on to be a History major (concentration in modern European thought) in college. If my memory serves me correctly, he told this long story on the first day of class, which included a frog, him smacking the top of his desk and copious amounts of napkins as he wiped his brow. That is the way I want to remember him because he was so enthusiastic about the whole thing. - Nick Marmor Dr. Rothman was a great chairman. He allowed a lot of new teachers find their creative freedom. I've never had a boss make fun of me so much ... but that was the beauty of him. He took the edge off of the rather stressful first years of teaching. - Mr. Klaff
Wow, I am speechless may he rest in peace. He was one of the very
few amazing teachers I ever had in high school. He assigned
mountains of homework, but we seriously learned a lot of things that
I still remember now in college. not only was he a great
knowledgeable teacher, he was also kind and understanding and gave
extensions to your papers when you ran out of time or had no clue.
He was humble and always helped... I hope he rests in peace. -

I never had him as a teacher, although I spent way too much time in the SS office, and he always had something nice or witty to say- he always knew what to say to make me laugh.... - Dave Baer
Proud member of the "peanut gallery" of 1997-98. I still laugh
when I hear/read the word "consequently." "Battle of the Bulge" is
another good one, ~ bourgeoisie. Much love to, and many prayers
for all Rothmans. - Alex Talcott
2 things I loved about having Dr. Rothman:
a) He ALWAYS put an extreme emphasis on the BOO in Bourgeoisie b) His license plate was MDR PHD (his initials and his degree) - Kathleen Ball
